Stormdrain Design Contest

Please view the 2007 contest flyer as an example of last year's contest.

On September 22, 2007 we met the winner, parents and volunteers in Wilton to install about 50 stormdrains with Jillian's design and the Surfrider Foundation logo.

The storm drain marker final design. Jillian Carter, Tom Drejer of Surfrider Foundation, and Donna Montalto model the storm drain marker.
Jillian Carter and Donna Montalto model the storm drain marker. Jillian Carter, Surfrider Volunteers, Parents and Students of Our Lady of Fatima were all on hand to help apply Jillian’s storm drain marker in the Wilton Town Center.

We sent this press release to all local newspapers. So keep an eye out for the article!

The contest was designed to inform and teach school children about the detrimental effects of non-point source pollution, encourage the arts, and help them educate people in their local communities as well. We also hope to build awareness of our local Connecticut Chapter to increase our membership base. In a few months we will also be looking for volunteers to help in affixing these drain markers with the winning student and her class in their local community. Look for an update on the website in the coming months.
