Central Park Conservancy's annual Earth Day Festival
April 24th, 2004
The NYC Chapter participated in the Central Park Conservancy's annual Earth Day Festival. The event is a family-oriented celebration that aims to engage people of all ages in activities that will motivate them to make lifestyle decisions that positively impact the environment and our communities. As such, it fit in perfectly with the goals of our Respect the Beach campaign -- to educate people about the watershed process and what each of us can do to impact water quality in a positive manner. To this end, we ran the "Sea to Summit" video on a continuous loop, posted various diagrams outlining the watershed and how it's impacted, and spoke to passerby about the Surfrider Foundation and what we do. All in all,it was a fun and successful effort on a gloriously sunny day! If you would like to get involved with the RTB campaign, please contact Rachel Rabinor or Erik Johnson. |
