December 17, 2005 -- Take A Little, Give A Lot
Rincón, PR -- Most visiting surfers come to Rincón to pick off a few fun waves and tip back a few cold beverages. The UNC-Wilmington Surf Club had a little more in mind for their first visit to Rincón. Prior to arriving in Puerto Rico, the club contacted Surfrider looking for opportunities to do community service while on vacation in Rincón. As a result, the UNCW Surf Club provided the lion's share of the muscle behind two beach clean-ups. The first clean-up was held in Barrio Puntas. Volunteers lead by David and Maureen Miller collected trash and recycling from Pools Beach to the Rivermouth.
A few days later, the Club conducted a second beach clean-up at Domes Beach with the help of the local crew. The college students scored good waves and better vibes giving back to the community that shared its choice surf with the visitors.
