Update the Bottle Bill, Already!

The Massachusetts Chapter joined a large coalition of groups years ago, aiming to update the Mass bottle deposit law to include non-carbonated beverages, like water bottles. The current law has an excellent rate of recycling but it only covers beer and soda. A five cent deposit on more types of beverage bottles will mean cleaner oceans, waves, and beaches.  Since the legislature has failed to act on this important bill for over a decade, the people took matters into their own hands!  Under the leadership of MASSPIRG, a citizens initiative was formed and a ballot measure asking Massachusetts voters to approve the Updated Bottle Bill will be on the November, 2014 ballot.  The Chapter needs YOU to get involved this summer as the push to turn out voters heats up!  Join in an event or come to a meeting - get involved today!
