San Diego Port Master Plan Amendment Denied

The Coastal Commission denied an Amendment to the Port's Master Plan under the premise that Port is not upholding the Coastal Act that requires: "lower cost visitor and recreational facilities shall be protected, encouraged, and, where feasible, provided. Developments providing public recreational opportunities are preferred." The Port wants to construct a luxury hotels on public trust lands that would be not considered low-cost, nor help facilitate recreation and public access. Fortunately, the Commission sent the Port back to the drawing board.
