Special Places Campaign
Goals of the Special Places Campaign in California: To protect marine habitats, biodiversity, and special places along California's coast through establishment of a network of marine protected areas (MPAs); support the implementation of the Marine Life Protection Act in order to establish a State network of MPAs; participate in community-based processes related to designation of MPAs; communicate and collaborate with allies including fishermen, environmentalists, business owners, community leaders, etc; and work with allies and partners post-implementation to ensure MPAs success.
