Sonoma County voted to Ban Plastic Bags starting March 21, 2014
The ordinance bans the issuance of plastic carryout bags and imposes a 10 cent fee on paper bags. The Board of Directors of the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency, a Joint Powers Authority composed of the Cities of Cloverdale, Cotati, Healdsburg, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, and Sonoma; the Town of Windsor; and the County of Sonoma, voted unanimously on February 20, 2014 to adopt an ordinance to reduce carryout bag waste throughout Sonoma County.
Rise Above Plastics is designed to eliminate the impacts of plastics in the marine environment by raising awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution and by advocating for a reduction of single-use plastics and the recycling of all plastics.Learn More
