RIPPLE: ART AFFECTING OCEANS
DC Surfrider will be celebrating International Surfing Day by holding an art show fundraiser on the banks of the Potomac River. It's a celebration of art and surfing, featuring the work of Erik Abel and Surfrider members.
Friday, June 20 (8 pm to midnight):
A pre-opening party for members and friends of Surfrider and other environmental organizations. Wine and hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, music. Display of member-created art inspired by the oceans.
Saturday, June 21 (noon to 6 pm):
Outdoor festival at the riverfront plaza, with live music, displays of DC Surfrider campaigns, and kids activities.
Saturday, June 21 (6 pm to midnight):
Official opening of RIPPLE. Music, food, wine.
Gallery: Art Whino
Location: National Harbor, Prince George’s County Maryland
A portion of the proceeds from art sales will benefit DC Surfrider’s water quality monitoring and education programs.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We will need an army of volunteers for Saturday. If you have an hour or two (or more), please come out to talk to people about DC Surfrider campaigns, help kids make surfy crafts, and keep the bands happy and running smoothly. Contact Julie to sign up.
Don't have a list of talking points at the tip of your tongue? We'll be holding a couple of training sessions in mid-June. In under an hour you'll get up to speed on the Surfrider mission, the ins and outs of DC Surfrider, and more info about plastics, gardens, and clean water than you ever imagined. And we will feed you. Stay tuned for more details.
TO SIGN UP, OR IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, E-MAIL JULIE.
Thank you to Erik Abel and Art Whino for their immeasurable support.
