Ocean Frontiers III - Coastal Users Speak Out for Ocean Planning

What exactly is ocean planning? And why should people who recreate at the coast support the concept?

Our friends at Green Fire Productions have released a new film that answers these questions in a most compelling way. Featuring interviews with port managers, fishermen, tribal leaders and (you guessed it) beach goers and surfers, Ocean Frontiers III: Leaders in Ocean Stewardship & the Blue Economy explains how regional ocean plans are benefitting the people who use and depend on the ocean.

Chronicling years of collaboration between government agencies and ocean stakeholders, the documentary tells the story of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic ocean plans that were finalized at the end of 2016. As a key part of its narrative, the film spotlights efforts of coastal users engaging in the process of ocean planning to protect the ocean and recreational opportunities from future threats, such as energy projects and industrial development.

All three Ocean Frontiers films are screening across the country and around the world to rave reviews. The films carry an important message that we can protect our ocean legacy through positive collaboration and science-based decisions that benefit the marine ecosystem, ocean users and ocean economies.
