After four years of work the Portland chapter of Surfrider was given four days notice to rally the troops, organize multiple efforts and help drive home a victory against single-use plastic pollution in our oceans. The momentum continues.

Styrofoam came into being in 1941 and since that time it has proceeded to become one of the largest sources of trash on the planet (oh and it may cause cancer). SB 568 calls for a ban in the state of California.

Anyone with kids has experienced this... your child is at a party, they are given a balloon... and they let it go. What goes up must come down. Marine animals can't digest plastic well and millions die every year from trying. A community in Texas has taken this issue on.
