Cartoons as an activist onramp
Last month I wrote a piece about digital photography being an onramp for activism. The essence of that that piece said "find out people's core interests and translate those interests to our mission."
Jerry Collamer, a dyed-in-wool core Trestles activist, sent this cartoon to Chad Nelsen the other day. Chad was looking for an illustration for a piece on water quality. When I saw it I was reminded, yet again, that onramps can be as diverse as any of us can think of. The above cartoon succeeds on so many levels but above all it speaks to perhaps the largest challenge for our oceans, waves and beaches... apathy.
Kudos to Jerry for finding more and more ways to add value to this mission.
