Dear and YonderThomas Campbell paved the way with Sprout.
Before that film you'd have to go back decades to find something as painterly, hand-crafted, analog and experimental (at least in the world of surf-films). It's a high-water mark in my mind.
That said I'm stoked to see more films painting a fuller picture of why we love the sport. Dear and Yonder does just this.

I remember when seeing a woman or girl in the lineup was rare and, from my perspective, those were worse days. Women have changed the vibe in the water for the better.
Many of us are drawn to oceans, waves and beaches. That "many" includes all ages, all genders and all belief systems.
Kudos to the crew behind this film. Oh, and the movie poster is... perfect.
