Growing green in the dark

When I was a kid my dad would always remind us to turn the lights off. He came from a generation that understood scarcity. His generation and one prior didn't take things for granted like we do. Things shifted, today kids grow up with a phone in their backpack, a bottle of water in their hand and sense that growth and prosperity extrapolate forever... or do they?

More and more things are shifting. A tipping point is being reached. Entire cities are taking stands (see video below), entire countries are debating single-use plastic bag bans, children taking leadership positions...

My fear a few years back was that the environmental movement would stay confined to a dozen well-intentioned people meeting in a conference room... and go no further.

Those fears are melting away. Today we have hundreds of those groups, still well-intentioned, but they are reaching out to the larger population. Tomorrow we'll hopefully have millions of those groups.
