Japan gets specific, reduce garbage 60% by 2015

It has always seemed clear to me that islands understand issues around garbage and recycling. Land is always at a premium... why use it for a dump?

You see this in Hawai'i, in tiny Caribbean islands and in island nations like Japan.

Japan recently put a line in the sand; reduce garbage by 60% by 2015.

Reuse chopsticks, bring your own grocery bags, use public transportation as much as possible... stop using as many of those nasty single-use plastic bottles.

When a nation makes vague statements we don't take them seriously. Kudos to Japan for their specificity.
