Photos catch my eye the same way a unique riff in a song catches my ear. When I saw these photos I was captivated. Maggie Marsek captures something in photos that is hard to capture... she captures the soul of the sport.

There is a photo that I've had in my mind, waiting for the right alignment of the sun... the right season, the right sunset, etc... all to try catch this image... well... this image.



I love Andy Davis' approach. He embraces the simplicity in nature, the presence of organic forms and the simple joys of gliding on a wave.

This photo reminds me of that approach. I don't know how many times I've been walking out of the ocean, fish tucked under my arm... completely drained of any intensity... and just buzzing... grounded. I usually remind myself how blessed I am to be in that situation and having had the session I just had.

This photo brings me back to that place.
