Q: Who owns the beach? A: The public.

At Surfrider we're crisp on the question of beach access. We believe that ALL people should be able to access the beach. To put this another way, we don't believe in private beaches. This belief is captured in our mission statement.

Our mission is "... protection and enjoyment of oceans, waves and beaches for all people..."

There is an interesting dialog happening, at the Supreme Court level, regarding this issue in the State of Florida. Below is NPR's take on the matter.
