Rick Hayes, Margaret Mead and the activist army

In Surfrider circles, one quotation is on more people's email signatures than perhaps any other..."
A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." It's by Margaret Mead.

I love historical quotations like that as they thoughtfully draw context and lessons from the past and (hopefully) apply them to the future. I think that is the case with this quote.

Surfrider Foundation is a framework for individuals actions.

We enable, contextualize and an individual's action. We also combine individuals to build greater, more focused muscle.

Rick Hayes is one of these people. He's been Chairing the Sebastian Inlet chapter for a while and been a constant force for a state and region that has faced more than it's share of challenges. Check out Rick here.

But Rick isn't alone. He's not alone in the Sebastian Inlet chapter and he's not the only one mirroring Margaret's words. In fact there are thousands of Rick's out there, I've captured 24 of them on podcasts over the past year. They are the lifeblood of this organization. They are the driving force toward us achieving our mission.

Kudos to Rick and to every other activist out there.
