Stand Up -> Alaia -> Barrel

The sport of surfing used to be so... straightforward. If you had a surfboard it was probably 6 feet something. It absolutely had three fins. It was probably too small and it probably held you back but at least you knew what to expect.

Surfing used to be so... predictable.

It's a tenth of the way into the new millennium and all bets are off. Tow-in longboarding is right around the corner, I can feel it. There is a standing $10K prize for first landed kickflip.

There is still a contingency that are surfing 6something thrusters and surfing them in ways that are historically linked to the past. And then there are those that are surfing anything-but-3 fin set-ups, boards made of wood, mats made of rubber and any combination they can come up with.

Which brings me to this...
