Stealing from our children

Two things really bother me about the end of administrations. One is how a plethora of last-minute decisions are steamrolled through, and the second is how these decisions are usually stealing from the future.

Check this one out.  In the final days of the current administration they are doing what many of us feared they would do... gut the Endangered Species Act. This is the classic "fox in charge of the hen house" scenario as the modifications enable agencies that want to build massive infrastructure projects to no longer consult other agencies for approval.

What bothers me even more than the horrific ramifications of these kinds of last-minute decisions is the long-term effects they have on generations to come. Why do we continue to ratchet up challenges for our children? Why do we steal from the future to satisfy our short-term interests?
