The other Jersey Shore: The John Weber podcast
November 30 2010 | Podcasts, Jim's Blog,
Programs like MTV's The Jersey Shore are pushed out to tens of millions of people. They tend to paint regions with broad brushes and in horrifically shallow ways. As we all know, that show is not the New Jersey shore... it's a TV program designed to... actually I'm not sure what it's purpose is.
Enter John Weber.
John Weber is, at least to me, the New Jersey shore. I say this because he spent his formidable summers in New Jersey at local beaches. As an adult he has oriented is life around helping preserve those same coastlines.
John has risen through the ranks from a lover of oceans, waves and beaches to a Surfrider volunteer. Then he moved up the ladder of engagement to become an activist. Today he manages our chapters in the Northeast.
I've wanted to capture his story for a while and he and I recently caught up on the beach in Long Beach Island. Listen in.
