What is our personal role in oil spills?

Yet another oil spill hit the oceans. This time in the Southern Hemisphere, in Patagonia.

Once again, our oceans get a sucker punch to the gut.

Surfrider Argentina is looking for a way to get involved.

It sure seems like a whole lotta oil is spilling in the oceans... South Korea in December 07, San Francisco in November 07, Russia in November 07.

It would be pretty darn easy for me to lob a post out... jabbing a finger at the bogeyman oil industry and wax on about double-hull ships, record profits, blah blah blah. Yes, we need to safeguard the oil extraction, distribution and storage process. But we should also look at the demand side or the equation...

It's always easier to look at others rather than look at ourselves.

One way that each of us can personally control the oil industry is to buy less of it. Drive fewer miles in a higher MPG vehicle, use less single-use plastics, etc.

Be the change you seek in your world.
