How Many People Does It Take To Save A Coastline? All Of Us.
What we do at Surfrider is connect people’s love of the coasts to caring for them. Connecting people to our mission is the first step toward achieving success. The next step is getting those people to organize, engage, to take our mission and make it their own mission. There are lots of ways to measure the results of an army like ours, but in the past 12 months our domestic network has netted 33 coastal wins. Every one of these wins were personal wins for the locals in coastal communities.

Protecting Washington’s Coast Through Marine Spatial Planning
A new short film explores the opportunity to protect Washington's Pacific coast through marine spatial planning. Filmmakers Chris Hannant and Gillian Montgomery interview Surfrider members and other stakeholders as they travel the state's rugged coastline. Featuring beautiful scenery from the Olympic Peninsula, the film makes a compelling case for surfers, beachgoers and other recreational users to get involved with marine spatial planning.

Save Laniakea (Lani’s): Stop The Barricade!
The Hawaii Department of Transportation (DOT) is planning to barricade the Laniakea Support Park, preventing all parking on the inland side of the road and blocking beach access to one of the most popular beaches on Oahu’s North Shore. Please sign this petition to demand that DOT find a better solution than barricading access to a public park and one of the North Shore’s greatest beaches.

Take Action: Oppose Desalination Facility In Huntington Beach
Surfrider Foundation has been raising concerns about ocean desalination for over a decade. Recently, panels of scientific experts have made recommendations to the agencies responsible for protecting our coast and ocean on how to minimize the marine life mortality and water quality degradation from ocean desalination projects. But a project proposed in Huntington Beach fails to include ANY of the science community's recommendations. Learn more and take action.

Six Years Of Reef Restoration In Rincon
Since 2007, the Surfrider Foundation Rincon Chapter has been instrumental in improving the health of the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve and adjacent reefs along the west coast of Puerto Rico by orchestrating an extensive community-based marine debris removal and prevention program. Hundreds of volunteers from both on and off the island helped remove more than 2.5 tons of marine debris from 2 marine protected areas, which harbor extensive thickets of endangered elkhorn and staghorn corals. Watch the complete story and witness the positive difference a community can make in improving reef health.
