Raise A Glass To The 1st Ocean Friendly Beer Garden
By now you've hopefully heard about our Ocean Friendly Garden Program and projects, but the Coos Bay Chapter in Oregon and their ever-so-creative planning have just installed what we believe to be the first Ocean Friendly Beer Garden! When 7 Devil's Brewing Co. teamed up with the chapter prior to opening their doors, some amazing things happened. Drink ocean friendly!

Marine Plastic Pollution Solutions Presented In Washington DC
Surfrider Foundation and the UCLA Frank G. Wells Environmental Law Clinic joined forces in Washington DC to present legal and policy solutions for marine plastic pollution at the federal level. Some solutions discussed included Extended Producer Responsibility (“EPR”) and life-cycle management of plastic products. In addition to presenting on this topic to an audience of over 100 people, they were also able to follow up with Senate office visits to discuss the details of proposed solutions to Rise Above Plastics with increased source reduction of heavily-littered items.

Petition: Better Protection Of New England's Ocean Ecosystem
Please sign a petition to the Northeast Regional Planning Body, which calls for stronger emphasis in their ocean planning goals to protect New England's ocean ecosystem and recreational areas, before they're threatened. Our goal is to reach 200 signatures by January 21, so help us out by signing the petition today!

Oregon Gets Serious On Cleanups
Oregon chapters and volunteers are responding to beach cleanup needs more strategically and with greater coordination as a result of increased seasonal debris events during the winter and spring. These "rapid response cleanups" are much more effective in capturing marine debris, putting the effort when and where it's most needed.
