On Friday, November 6, the Army Corps of Engineers started the construction of a geotube seawall along the beach in downtown Montauk, Long Island, NY. The Surfrider Foundation and our Eastern Long Island Chapter opposed this project for over a year. Read more about this evolving situation and how you can help. Victory for the New York and New Jersey coast!
Our chapters in Long Island, NYC and the Jersey Shore scored a huge victory in a campaign they have been waging for years. This past Thursday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo killed a 3-year-old proposal to build a liquefied natural gas terminal 19 miles off Jones Beach. Living the mission on the South Jersey shore...
Beth Kwart embodies Surfrider Foundation’s mission of protecting and enjoying our ocean, waves and beaches. Beth and her now husband went to a beach clean up together on a date, because they love the ocean and they wanted to protect what they love. Three chapter meetings later, she was voted in as Chapter Secretary. Read more about how Beth feels about her responsibility to protect the ocean as person who loves to enjoy the ocean.
