Local residents of Kaua'i are fed up with the State's refusal to post warning signs at the beach where polluted streams empty into the ocean. A local community organization, Friends of Mahaulepu, decided to post a sign at the mouth of the Waiopili Stream warning beachgoers of the contamination. Read more about how the sign did not last long at the beach before it was taken down!

Meet Dan Young
As a founder of Surfrider, Dan's biggest highlight has been watching the realization that he had in 1971 for a surfing environmental group grow from a little kernel, to 6 people around a table in August 1984, to the scope and scale of Surfrider's work and reach with more than half a million supporters nationally.
