Surfrider Foundation, Making Waves, Oct/Nov '99

In an effort to help protect the ocean, Paul Naudé, President of Billabong USA, has spearheaded a corporate sponsorship agreement with the Surfrider Foundation. Beginning in August 1999 and extending for a period of one year, a percentage of revenues generated from Billabong apparel sold with special hangtags will be earmarked for the Surfrider Foundation. This agreement has sparked an industry-wide challenge; the Surf Manufacturers' Commitment to Cleaner Waters, a program developed to raise funds for the Foundation so that we can continue to be the Keepers of the Coast.

"I am an avid surfer and I am impressed with the role the Surfrider Foundation has maintained through the implementation of their unique programs and the issues they choose to address," noted Naudé. "Much of the work they do directly assists the very industry we serve and I am honored to help such a distinguished force in our community. Cleaner Waters program."
