Surfrider Chapter Work: C-View



MAKING WAVES, June/July 1999

      Surfrider National has started a new process for keeping track of all the outstanding work the chapters do on a daily basis; we call it "C-View".
     On a quarterly basis chapter chairs or designated contacts, will be called by a National staff member to get updates on the Chapter's current issues and fill out a questionnaire.
     The following are the results from our first quarter (January 1 to April 1, 1999):

Blue Water Task Force: 13
    Number of tests per quarter: 1439
    Chapters using county water testing: 17
Respect the Beach: 15
    Number of schools presented per quarter: 106
Beachscape: 3
    Miles of coastline documented: 3

Involvement with Government, State and City Agencies:
Number of Chapters who attended public meetings on a regular basis: 18
Number of Chapters who attended public meetings for a specific issue: 25

Current Issues:
Development: 23
Water Quality: 22
Beach Access: 15
Shoreline Structures: 15
Sand or Shoreline Erosion: 9

Beach Clean Ups: 41
 
Storm Drain Stenciling:
Drains Stenciled: 840
Volunteers Used: 100
