The Surfrider Foundation's national bimonthly publication, MAKING WAVES, is an additional public outreach and educational outreach tool the Foundation uses. Article topics published in MAKING WAVES cover subjects such as current coastal issues, Surfrider Chapter news and coastal scientific reports. In 1996, MAKING WAVES received a "Gold Award of Excellence" from the Natural Resources Defense Council International Eco Awards Committee. All issues of MAKING WAVES since 1998 are now online.

Some MAKING WAVES online issues (starting with the Dec. 2006 issue) have extended online versions of selected articles.

MAKING WAVES is now available in a new flipbook version, click on the latest issue to experience this new "wave" of technology.
