Surfriders Earth Day Work Party at Woodstock Farm
Saturday, April 19, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

FUN at WOODSTOCK

The City of Bellingham hopes the Northwest Straits Chapter will adopt a special landscape project at the Farm, such as creation of an "Old Chuckanut" landscape on the West Point and Upper Bluff. The Farm is available for Surfrider barbecues, picnics etc. and arrangements can be made for social events and shelter for "site partners" who help improve and open the site to the
public. Check out the new fire pit.

Tim Wahl will be available at 2:00 PM for a historical overview of the Farm and the changing landscape of the Chuckanut's "Costa Firme", as an early Spanish sketch map labels the mountain shoreline.

Main Jobs:

  • Light duty ivy and blackberry decimation. Others have done the hard stuff.

  • Look for ancient artifacts while keeping the boathouse midden ivy free.
    (But you can't keep them!)

  • Hike around and remove survey flagging. For the ADD among us: attack the
    plastic.

  • Hauling and misc. landscape work.

A Special Work Party role, anyone?
Anyone want to make coffee or soup? We have most of the equipment, but you'll need to check it before hand. Stove available if anyone wants to make chilli or chowder etc. Bring layers, lunch, and any favorite gear. Otherwise, tools, hot water, and work gloves will be supplied.

GETTING THERE: Meet for ridesharing at the North Chuckanut Mt. Trailhead at 10:00. Please call your Surfrider buddies to rideshare, or walk from the trailhead or bike. LIMITED ON-SITE PARKING. We need to get down to 6-8 vehicles. See

for directions and site map.
