October 10, 2009 – 5th Annual Benefit Concert and Fashion Show at Boundary Bay Brewery!
It is that time of year again! We are preparing to do our 5th annual fundraiser at Boundary Bay. Last year we had kids events, several bands, fashion show, silent auction and raffling. We had awesome sponsors like Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro, Sportsman Chalet, Georgie Girls, Plantas Nativa LLC, Sessions, GNU, K2Snowboarding, Zumiez, LibTec. This year we are doing the same! With your support, we were able to raise enough money to support the Baker Bus for the 2008-2009 winter season, organize and participate in projects such the Boulevard Park’s Woods Coffee recycling bins, beach and highway clean-ups, Rise Above Plastics campaigns, and water quality certification testing for Blue Water Task Force. If you would like to donate, participate or volunteer please contact us at nws@surfrider.org.
September 20, 2009 – Coastal Clean-up with ReSources
Last year we joined together with ReSources to monitor the types of trash we recovered. The clean-up was to help support Washington CoastSaver programs effort to combat marine debris to ensure that the astounding beauty and ecological diversity of Washington’s coast is restored and preserved forever. As we cleaned up our beaches, we kept track of the amount and types of trash. On September 20th, from 9am-1pm, we will hold a clean up at Locus Beach and record each piece of trash we pick up. Please park at the Bellingham Kiteboarding Community Center off of Locust Ave (first right on Locust from Eldridge/Holly) and look for the Surfrider flag. We will supply refreshments and some snacking goodies to feed all our volunteers along with trash bags and protective gloves for the cleanup. Hope to see you there!
