Surfrider NYC will be holding its first annual Film Festival on Tuesday. We have a lot of quality submissions to date and are looking forward to a great evening. Please come out and support your local filmmakers and Surfrider.

Directions: Pier 63 is located on the Hudson River just north of "Basketball City" where 23rd Street ends at the West Side Highway.
SurfriderNYC will be sponsoring a clothing drive at the Film Festival to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Please bring new/used clothing. We'll have a box setup near the entrance of the Film Festival.

The Surfrider Foundation, NYC chapter, and the SURFRIDER NYC FILM FESTIVAL 2005 invite filmmakers to create and submit work that explores the world’s oceans, waves and beaches as a theme, backdrop or inspirational force and to share their stories for the Surfrider Foundations’s first annual film festival to be held Tuesday, Sept. 20th in New York City.

Entrants chosen for competition will be reviewed by a panel of industry experts.
Deadline for entries is
September 9th, 2005.
Entry fee is $35.00
Entry requirements:
- Must be DVD clearly marked with the entrant’s name, telephone number, e-mail address and title and length of the film.
- Film must be at least 2 minutes in length and no longer than 30 minutes.
- Completed and signed submission and release forms. To download a submission form visit the festival Web site: www.surfrider.org/nyc/filmfestivalform
- Entries become property of the festival and will not be returned.
- Entrants chosen for the festival will be contacted directly by the Surfrider panel.
Submission Instructions:
- Complete the form in full, writing all your answers in print.
- The fee for submission is $35.00. (Fee includes a 1 year membership to Surfrider Foundation). Please enclose a check for this amount. Make checks payable to: Surfrider Foundation
- Please sign the document.
- Mail your submission form along with a DVD copy of the film you are submitting to: 192 Christopher Columbus Drive, Loft #1, Jersey City, New Jersey 07302

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people through conservation, activism, research and education.

Why are we creating this festival?
Our goal is to present a body of work that captures and reflects upon the collective spirit of the Surfrider Foundation. The film festival will be a great community outreach event for Surfrider, and a channel for filmmakers to share their stories, promote awareness and potentially inspire environmental activism. In additon, the thought is to use the festival as a membership drive. Filmmakers entering films will receive a membership that is included in the entry fee. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for membership on the day of the event.
Who do we want to be our audience?
Ocean enthusiasts from all walks of life, activists, environmentalist, surfers, swimmers, divers, fisherman, children, everyone interested in the worlds waters and beaches.

What kind of films do we want to show?

If the filmmaker already has an existing membership he/she will have the option to get thier next year membership, or give the membership to a friend as a gift.
