Dear Concerned Ocean-Loving Friend,
If you are one of the thousands of New York area residents who likes to
surf, sun and swim at New York area beaches, but at one point or another
was deeply perturbed by the sight of sewage, plastics or
other human-made debris and wondered what you could do, Surfrider NYC
urges you to be part of the solution - sign-up and become a member today.
Surfrider NYC is the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a
non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and
enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through
conservation, activism, research, education and the promotion of ocean
culture.
Surfrider NYC membership is extremely cheap ($25 for one year, $15 for
students) and will help us protect our precious coastal areas. Funds are
used to coordinate local beach cleanups (Rockaway and Long Beach), pay for
water-testing kits (so we know exactly how bad it is out there!), and to
raise awareness and educate people about local environmental issues
affecting your overall beach experience.
