While a contingent of about a dozen police officers maintained a vigil near the protesters, the two-hour rally remained peaceful — with participants singing songs, urging onlookers and passers-by to sign petitions, and, for a $7 donation, handing out bright red T-shirts bearing the slogan, "Friends of Ala Wai Harbors & Beaches: Free Beach Access — No Parking Fees".... Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Cleanup & Celebration

Ala Moana Beach Park (June 30, 2007) -   A BIG mahalo to all that helped with our clean up of the beach and the following celebration event with Jill Cunniff at Brew Moon in Local Motion.  It was a lot of fun and the largest clean-up we've had in our 11 year history.  We picked that park clean!  Some 120 people, including television and surfing celebrities and long time activists, cleaned the beach and park.

Participants then toasted their efforts as the sun went down. Jill Cunniff of Luscious Jackson treated party-goers to a performance in the intimate setting of the Brew Moon on the second floor of the Local Motion surf shop in Waikiki.

As we get photos, we'll post them, so stay tuned!
