Waikiki T-groins: We decided not to take a position on this issue. A statement on the issue was crafted with help from Mark Rauscher of National SF that says:Surfrider Foundation does not support construction of hardened shoreline structures, as it typically harms adjacent beaches.
Recognizing that Waikiki beaches are man-made and have been
constructed and maintained over many years in a piece meal fashion that has failed, the SFOahu Chapter encourages the development of a comprehensive master plan to cover all of Waikiki's beaches, created with adequate input from the entire community. A master plan should enhance beach access, improve ocean water quality, should not affect surfing waves, and with rising sea level now a reality, should also include planned shoreline setback retreat.
Triple Crown Booth: Doug Rodman and Kevin ? have volunteered to man the booths when the events take place on weekends.
