The Ocean CIty Chapter participates in this annual parade &
festival that celebrates the “wearin o’ the green.” An
Ocean City tradition with over 100 entrants including marching bands,
floats, law enforcement groups & more. Followed by entertainment,
food & beverages at festival. Saturday. Festival, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.,
parade at noon.

"Leave
Only Your Footprints" Barrel Painting

year, Surfrider members and a crew of volunteers (Salisbury University
"Greeks" and SDHS "connections") stenciled the first round of trash
cans with the reminder to "Leave Only Your Footprints." These are the
cans that are placed on the beaches. Our gangs finished 700+ cans
and that's no April foolin'.. |

Aloha Garden and Clean Sweep

pines and mulch the Aloha Garden at Northside Park. Local chapter

Day

Surfing Paddleout

Surfers from across the globe
will
unite to celebrate International
Surfing Day. The annual observance,
now in its sixth year, was established to inspire waveriders
everywhere to take a day to share and acknowledge their mutual love of
surfing and our beach and ocean environments. As in previous years, the
Surfrider Foundation is hosting beach clean-ups and other events in
locations throughout the world. Surfrider
activists nationwide paddle
out to raise awareness of water quality and the “State Of The Beach.”
Besides the
expected "surfing" organizations, invites will be extended to locale
environmental groups and National/local political leaders to join us in
the quest to inform the public of our combined efforts to achieve and
maintain a clean water environment. For several years, DelMarVa area
surfers
joined together in a "Circle of
Solidarity" clean water paddle (see pictures
and
more here). Expected to attend this year are Ocean City's Mayor and
Capt. Abin and staff.
