2005 Longboard Team Challenge
37th St. Beach (Castle in the Sand)
Friday - Sunday, June 11-13th

Champions: Team Ashton, Ocean City, MD. Chris Tilghman, Jon Ashton, Ian Tilghman, Art Baltrotsky, Justin Weismiller.

Weedentluze Trophy: Offshore Longboard Club, New Jersey.

Rumor has it that the "3 ft "tiki" trophy for Team Ashton will be housed for the next 12 months in the new K-Coast Surf Shop.

During Friday evenings reception/open house three new inductees were added to the roll of Ocean City Surfrider's Ocean City Legends:  Terry Sterner, Dave Hartman and Will Lucas. We also thanked Stephanie Martin for her over the top efforts with the 2005 "Keeper of the Coast" award.

I would like to thank all who were able to help out this year. The success of this event is due to their assistance as much as the weather and waves. The judging corps was spectacular. Our MC, Kip Martin, DJ Bill Star, and the tabulators under the tents made the long day smooth as glass and, of course, "poncho and cisco," who manned the front at the timer/flags. All those who helped in our setup and breakdown thanks again. This year's list of volunteers is very long, and trust me, I will call again for 2006.

Without our sponsors and host there would not be a Surfrider Weekend. A huge thank you to Coconuts Beach Bar, Hurley International, the Castle in the Sand Hotel and Great Scott Broadcasting. I'd like to thank the Town of Ocean City, whose varied departments gave irreplaceable "behind the scenes" assistance and support.

Thanks to all who help make this special weekend a success for 2005.

Mahalo,
