Letter From Surfrider OC
Thanks to all for a successful “SRFRDR WKND,” and the “all hands”
approach to set-up and tear down of our Saturday event. Mahalo (again)
to our host and sponsor – “Castle in the Sand Hotel” – Adam, Patricia
and staff. And, to Andrea and Great Scott Broadcasting for our radio
ads and the gifts from Banana Boat. To the Town of OC and the OCBP for
covering out “six.”
The staff - as usual - a t-shirt is hardly thanks enough for the day --
Kip on the microphone; Randy and Wes at the flags & timer - and the
“horn” - thanks to the ESA for the equipment loan and to Art (again)
for his contest logistics; Jim and Debbie have the retail on cruise
control and even brought their own staff; Melissa and Steph great job
on registrations and tabulation. To Mike and Phyllis for plugging the
“dam “ where needed and to “DOC” and his judging corps -- a long day.
And of course, thanks to all the competitors, who made the most of less
than stellar conditions. To Gary, Mike and staff of the Castaways for
the great venue Friday night. And to Steve Walden and Carl Scharper for
joining us Sunday morning on the beach.
A personal note of gratitude to Rosalie and the Wise family for
allowing the OC-SRF and “OC Legends” to share in their celebration of
Bill’s life. And to “Rondel” for his knowledge of Hawaiian tradition
and orchestration of the Memorial Paddle Out ---- MAHALO
