OCEAN
CITY- The Stephen Decatur Lifesavers Red Cross Club teamed up with the
Surfrider Foundation and the O.C. Beach Patrol for a day of "Dune Clean
Up". Under the supervision and direction of the Surfrider Foundation
and OCBP, the Red Cross Club scoured the dunes between 30th and 37th
streets. The club members were amazed at how quickly they filled their
trash bags with everything from beer bottles to syringes. As one club
member explains, "There was so much trash in the dune grass, we each filled a whole bag from one single dune!"
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit
organization committed to preserving the beauty and health of our
oceans and beaches. Club members take their stewardship seriously and
they were delighted to see Decatur high school students take part in
cleaning up and helping to maintain a healthy, beautiful coastline.
The O.C. Beach Patrol provided transportation to "haul" bags and bags of trash collected during Sunday's clean-up.
Red Cross Club members spoke about how
good they felt about the amount of trash they removed from the dunes.
Many onlookers stopped to ask the group what they were doing. One
particular onlooker, yelled to the group from the fifth story balcony
of a local hotel, "Thank you kids for all that you're doing!"

Message from the OCSF Chairman
ALOHA Gang,
Thanks for a great effort on a not so pretty Saturday morning. What a
team--the OCBP, Decatur Lifesavers and SRF--your efforts sure paid off.
Two truck loads of trash! Let's do it again soon. We'll be call'n.
Thanks from your new partners, OC-SRF.
MAHALO,
