Sunfest 2004 Volunteers Needed... Thanks to our Volunteers!!!!

Letter of Thanks to Our Volunteers:
Thank you all for helping to make this fund raising effort a success in more ways than one. We very grateful to OC Parks and Rec for giving us this opportunity to not only raise money for Surfrider, but to allow the opportunity to prove that we are a serious and respectable organization. We had numerous compliments from  the staff and management about how great a job we did in organizing our volunteers and what a great group we were to work with. We are very excited and pleased with the response from our members, and non-members' willingness to go above and beyond to help out this weekend. We had a good time to boot!

Tony - thanks for helping us out, sorry I did not get to meet you.

Cineva - please thank all your gals again and thank you again. Your efforts made a huge impact on our meeting our quota of volunteers. You were all great to work with.

Bruce and Beth - thanks for rounding up your family to help us out on Thursday night. Seemed like everyone had a good time. Please tell Kyle, Sonny and Bill thanks again! Sonny and Bill had such a good time they re-upped for Saturday night!

Bryant - please thank Henry and the girls - those girls deserve a raise! They were great sports - we had fun didn't we?! Ken - thanks for loaning Caroline to us all day Saturday - Caroline you and Robin - you were great - thanks a bunch.

Chuck and Julie Zink - thanks for taking time out of your weekend to help us, it was great seeing you again! I'm glad I had the opportunity to finally put some faces with names (and or e-mail addresses!)

Jim Bourke - you are the man, please thank Debbie also for reorganizing the "discount" tent. It looked great!  Jim, as far as Surfrider is concerned, you are the new "Mr. Sunfest". You  can sell some t-shirts! Thanks for putting in all the long hours and smiling all the while! What a trooper.

Jennie -thanks for helping on Thursday night. We are all wishing your Dad a successful operation to get him out of the pain he has been suffering. We are looking forward to seeing you both soon

Melissa, you put some miles on the car this weekend, girl. You are such a sport. And your friend, please thank him for helping us out on Saturday too, hopefully he is still your friend! ( I apologize, I did not catch his name)

Chad, it was great working with you and hope we have more opportunities in the future, once you are finished with school in December. Thanks so much for choosing Surfrider to volunteer your time with. Please keep in touch.

Kip, thanks for running those bus passes and maps around for me on Wednesday.

Jim - I am so glad you drove up from Crisfield to help us out and so we could finally meet. Really enjoyed working with you. Now go out an get yourself a longboard and get back in the water! Hope you can make it to a meeting this winter. Keep in touch.

And, Phyllis, you too, with the eternal smile! I hope that Mike took you out to a really, really, really, nice restaurant tonight. You went way beyond the call of duty, manning the boutique 13 hours for 3 days straight and another on Sunday! Plus you made your son come out and help us. Hope he enjoyed Neil! (tee hee). Please thank him again for us. And hey, thanks too for attracting all the difficult customers to your corner of the boutique and assisting them so nicely!! You have the patience of a Saint, but then we already knew that, didn't we?

Mike your enthusiasm is contagious and the chapter is very fortunate to have inherited you as our new leader! But dude, you need to relax, you're retired, remember? You and Phyllis really put in the hours and helped save my butt.

To everyone, again, you were terrific. Can't thank you all enough.

Shanan and Heather and Beth, hope you are all feeling better - I know your heart was in the right place. There will be plenty of other opportunities.

Shelly and Sandy - hope you and your families are all safe in Florida.

Request for Volunteer Assistance:

OC MD Surfrider has volunteered to provide 355 man-hours to help Parks and Recreation during Sunfest this year. We can earn $1 for the chapter for every item sold during the 4-day event, if we can round up enough volunteers. See the schedule below.

We have about 15 committed to the project so far, but need some relief from working 13-hour shifts!  It would be great if we could round up another 15 or 20 people.

All volunteers who register in advance will receive bus vouchers good for the entire weekend as well as a free T-shirt.

This is a good way for some college students to earn some community service hours (please note:  you must be 18 years of age).  Volunteers should contact Stephanie Martin (see below) to sign up for one or more shifts (preferably 4 to 8 hours).
