MARINE RESERVES: POLICY GUIDANCE
The OPAC Marine Reserve Working Group has developed a draft Policy Document to guide establishment of a network of marine reserves in state waters. The document identifies the network goal and provides guidelines for designation. This month, all of us (surfers, divers, kayakers, sailors, beachcombers etc.) have the opportunity to provide input on this issue to the Ocean Policy Advisory Council (OPAC) through Fred Sickler, our Ocean Recreation representative on OPAC. Please read this document (link below) and email your thoughts to pstauffer@surfrider.org and I will pass along to Fred. Also, the next OPAC meeting will be held in Warrenton on January 7-8. Discussion topics will include marine reserves, wave energy, LNG, etc. Lets get a big turnout! More info will be posted on event calendar soon.
