Event Calendar
The event calendar is for posting and finding upcoming surfrider and related meetings and events. It's hosted at http://my.calendars.net/orsurfrider/ but can be used completely within the surfrider website Events page.

Some calendar usage guidelines:

 • Please limit postings to Surfrider events or third-party events of direct interest to Surfrider members.
 • Please provide details and/or a URL pointer to the web page with more information. Include this in the Popup Text section of the form.
 • Please sign each posting with your name at the end of the Popup Text section of the form. For example, "Posted by Kurt"
 • The calendar application is sometimes very slow. If you get "DNS errors" or very slow response, reload the page by clicking Events on the top site navigation bar or try again later. Sometimes when submitting a change, the change will be accepted even though you get an error message.

To post a new calendar event:

 • Navigate to the month and day for the event. If the month is not shown, click the desired month (either at the top or on the calendar grid). Then click the desired day on the calendar grid. You can also click the appropriate choice after Add Events at the top of the calendar.
 • On the Create new Calendar Entry Page, provide a short description in the Calendar Text section, set the start and end times, and choose a Category.
 • Provide detailed, descriptive information and URLs in the Popup Text or URL link section. The latter should include the full announcement and/or a URL pointing to the announcement on a web page. URLs can be entered directly into the form. They will be made into clickable links automatically.
 • Please also provide your name at the end of the Popup Text or URL link section. For example, "Posted by Kurt" is fine.
 • Leave the colors on default settings.
 • Click Submit. If an error page appears, go back to the calendar to see if it was posted before reentering and resubmitting.

To edit a calendar event:

 • Navigate to the day page for the event, as above.
 • On the day's page, click Edit next to the event.
 • Make any changes.
 • Click Submit.

News Blog

Images/Files: Uploading images now works! Just click on the image icon in the blogger composer.

Expandable Posts: to create an expandable post, first compose the entire post the normal way in Blogger and post it to the site. Immediately look at the main page and copy the URL for the "permenant link" for the post and edit the post. You'll need to do two things: (1) where you want the front page summary to end, add text and a link to the post page (the URL that you copied), e.g. "Click here for more info." with "click her"e linked to the post page permenant link; (2) enclose the expansion of the post with the following:YOUR TEXT
