Paddle for Clean Water with Chris Swain

Fri, June 20, 2003

Thursday, June 19th 11:45am
Tomahawk Island (15 minutes from downtown Portland)

Surfrider Foundation - Oregon Chapter is paddling a portion of the Columbia River with Chris Swain. You can swim, paddle, or canoe. Chris is swimming all 1,243 miles of the Columbia River from the headwaters to the Pacific - a historic first - to raise awareness of the threats facing the river.

By swimming with Chris, we will demonstrate the connection between river and ocean water quality. We're not paddling too far, and going with the current (downstream). We're showing the media that there are ocean enthusiasts in the Willamette Valley, and that we're concerned about river and ocean water quality.

For information, directions, or free use of surfboard, canoe, or kayak, please contact Rob Williams of Surfrider at 503-329-8523 or RobWilliams2003@yahoo.com. More info available at www.columbiaswim.org
