The Port Orford Organizing Committee needs more involvement to become an official chapter. Local residents who love their ocean can contact Markus Mead to become more active in managing their coast.

Volunteer Opportunities

Water Quality Monitoring Campaign (Blue Water Task Force)
Port Orford Chapter is creating a water testing laboratory to sample marine and fresh water systems. The Chapter needs people to help administer the campaign and to collect samples. Specific needs are listed below. Contact: Charlie Plybon CPlybon@surfrider.org

  1. Program Coordinator: liaison between laboratory instructor and chapter (3 hours/month)
  2. Volunteer coordinator: schedule water samples and provide information to sample collection volunteers (3 hours/month)
  3. Sample collector: collect freshwater samples around Port Orford (1 hour/month)

  1. Ocean Recreation: assist POORT's projects by providing ocean recreation needs and perspective
