Raptoberfest

Did you know that approximately one million seabirds and one hundred thousand marine mammals die each year from ingestion of or entanglement in plastics?
Did you know that in some parts of the ocean, the amount of suspended plastic particles now outnumbers ambient plankton?
Did you know that 90% of all plastic waste that ends up in our oceans comes from land?
Plastic waste is one of the largest threats to our ocean and beach environments. In response, the Surfrider Foundation is dedicating the entire month of October to raising awareness of the dangers plastic waste, and what people can do to reduce their plastic footprint.
We will be kicking off our "Raptoberfest" celebration on October 1st with our One Foot At A Time plastic clean-up event. This event, which is being held as part of CLIF Bar's Day Of Action, seeks to remove plastic litter from communities across America one square foot at a time. Surfrider Foundation will also be posting up heaps of Raptoberfest tips on how to reduce your plastic footprint.
Finally, for a limited time the Surfrider Foundation will be offering special Raptoberfest membership packages: A year's membership to the Surfrider Foundation and a limited edition Raptoberfest t-shirt for just $25, OR a year's membership to Surfrider Foundation, a limited edition Raptoberfest t-shirt AND a special Raptoberfest ceramic beer stein for just $50!
