The past few years of my life have centered in exploration and adventure. As an anthropology major, fascinated by the world’s diverse environments, people, and cultures, I spent my college years travelling and exploring the world.
Whether volunteering at an elephant sanctuary in the jungles of Thailand, paddling through the Amazon River in Peru, sunbathing on Balinese beaches in Indonesia, or working for a non-profit to empower women in Ghana, my travels have focused on the idea of exploring the relationship between people’s environmental experience and their social and cultural development.
When I stumbled upon Surfrider Foundation, something clicked. I’ve always been a southern California girl at heart. Some of my happiest memories are of sandy toes and salty hair, summers spent taking sailing trips to Catalina Island with my family: snorkeling in Lover’s Cove, kayaking to Seal Rock, and basking under the sun at Avalon beach. I feel so privileged to have the opportunity to work for an organization that strives to protect and preserve our coasts and marine life- the environment that had such a significant role in my own cultural development.
Surfrider provides the sweet spot between my love of the ocean, sense of adventure and athleticism, knack for creativity, and desire to give back. As Marketing Coordinator, I work with our amazing staff, partners, and volunteers to make a positive impact through cause-driven campaigns and event activations. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to work with such a passionate group of people to help preserve and protect the oceans, waves, and beaches that we all love and call home.
