EPA Drowns Beach Program

Alexis Henry

Communications Manager

I grew up at the beach and in the ocean.  Summers were the best, when my mother would take us down to Huntington Beach to escape the heat.  We didn't have a pool in our backyard – we had the Pacific Ocean.

When I moved off to college in Los Angeles, I stayed connected to the ocean by often going with friends, and of course attending the Surfrider Foundation beach cleanups.  After college, I remained in Los Angels doing PR in both the music and entertainment industries, but longed to move back to the beach and work in an environment that combined my passions for the ocean, music and the DIY ethics that came along with both. That's when I found my job as Communications Manager at the Surfrider Foundation.  Now, not only am I doing my part to protect our oceans and coastlines, I get to work with some of the brightest and most inspiring people in coastal environmentalism.

The ocean holds a special place in my heart.  It is where I go to have fun, reflect, and escape.  I want to do everything I can to protect it.  Please help us and get involved.
