My dad taught me to surf.
He pushed me into my first waves, and always cheered me on, despite my very apparent lack of natural ability.
I spent the majority of those early days wiping out, flailing myself back onto my board, and loving every second of it. Go big or go home, right?
25 years later, I’ll be the first to admit... not all that much has changed.
The ocean is still my favorite place to humble myself.
I believe that a day spent at the beach is always the best day, and that a little saltwater is the cure for just about any situation.
After graduating from Dana Hills High, I attended Bond University - situated along Queensland’s Gold Coast.
The ocean-minded lifestyle here is contagious - from the legendary old-timer surf clubs to the packed ASP events buzzing with thousands of spectators, there's an energy here that I haven't found anyplace else.
It was in Australia, diving along the Great Barrier Reef, that I gained a genuine passion for coastal activism.
I first submitted my resume to Surfrider in 2007.
7 years later I landed a spot!
Now that I'm here, I couldn't be more proud to be a part of this team.
Cheers to the adventures ahead!
