I grew up in North Orange County, a suburban kid, who rode asphalt instead of water. I would say I’m a skater at heart, even though I grew up only 30 minutes from the beach. Riding concrete or water, I've always had a respect and appreciation for the environment. From camping trips in Mammoth to fishing trips in Mexico, I got to experience some wonderful places as a child. Preserving these beautiful and meaningful places for people to recreate is something that is definitely underrated. Unfortunately sometimes we don't realize what we've got until it's gone.
I moved to Los Angeles for school and spent a few years wandering the hills of Westwood (Go Bruins!). Now here I am, back in Orange County. In my free time I skate, attend shows, root for the world champs, and shoot photos. I shoot a lot of concerts and have taken photos of some notable acts over the past few years; everyone from Atmosphere to Thom Yorke.
As Surfrider's Marketing Coordinator, I assist with most of our cause-related partnerships among other things. I help coordinate events such as International Surfing Day and the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project. Each day, I have the privilege of interacting with Surfrider members who volunteer countless hours of their free time to protect our oceans, waves, and beaches. I have met some of the most passionate people in my life while working for Surfrider. These people truly live by the motto "protect where you play."
