Southern California Regional Manager
The very first Surfrider Foundation meeting I attended, I drove home the new Chair of the Malibu Chapter. Following a rather organic lifelong path that ebbed and flowed around art, music, and the ocean, I felt I had finally found something that really got all my synapses firing off all at once. I wasn't going to let that opportunity pass me by!
Ocean Friendly Gardens Program Coordinator
Though I grew up in a rural LA suburb with lots of natural open space, it wasn't until I moved back to it after college that I hiked the hills. Working a few stints on small, organic farms between community organizing jobs grounded me a bit more. Helping Chapters run Ocean Friendly Gardens Programs gives us a great tool to help people prevent urban runoff and restore a bit of the hills in their yards.
As part of the Accounting team, I manage chapter finances and assist in other accounting duties. Although I am excited to learn how to surf soon, I am a cricketer at heart. I've been playing cricket since i can remember and continue to play here in Southern California.
Oregon Policy Manager
The activist loves Oregon more than he loves life, said Tom McCall, one of the state's greatest governors and champion of the Beach Bill. So Oregon was a natural landing pad for this outspoken North Carolinian, reared feet firmly planted in the sand. As Oregon Field Manager for Surfrider Foundation and extreme karaoke professional, I have an amazing opportunity to amplify voices across this great state.
California Policy Manager
I was drawn to Surfrider’s philosophy of being a “member-driven” organization that inspires effective coastal activism. I’m constantly amazed by the throngs of Surfrider supporters who participate in issues they care about. As a California Policy Manager, I have the honor of working with highly motivated, intelligent and caring people—and together, we are protecting our oceans, beaches and waves—one victory at a time.
I've learned that I am a person who is not driven by maximizing profit margins or decreasing unit costs, but by serving the community and protecting the natural environment. It’s not often that web developers get that opportunity, so I was thrilled to join the Surfrider team, and help increase its capacity online.
Social Media and Content Coordinator
Whether by a photograph, a video or social media post, there’s a chance to create awareness and action every day. As Social Media and Content Coordinator for the Surfrider Foundation, I look forward to inspiring others to get involved by telling the Surfrider story.
Ocean Program Manager
As the Ocean Program Manager, I support Surfrider's engagement in marine protected areas (MPAs), regional ocean planning, renewable energy, and federal legislation. I live in the beautiful state of Oregon where I enjoy surfing cold waves and hanging out on the beach whenever I can.
Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager
Traveling down the Garden State Parkway from Bergen County, NJ to go to the beach was routine by age five. My grandmother bought an oceanfront summer cottage on Long Beach Island soon afterwards and that was it. The beach and ocean were the front yard, my playground, and the only place I wanted to be.
