Environmentally Taxing

Ok Portland, how about this one: a leaf tax. Yep, those pesky leaves, 100% natural and compostable are just too much to bare for the city and some citizens. But what about plastic bags? I suppose this story really resonated with me after hearing city officials shying away from a ban or tax on plastic bags. If the city of Portland is going to tax leaves for their composting and pickup service, then it makes sense they wouldn't tax plastic bags since they don't offer recycling or pickup options. So it only seems the next logical step would then be to ban the bag, eh? Let's get the plastic bags out of our streets and stormdrains in Portland along with the leaves. Ban the Bag, sign the petition today!
